A Telecom product company in the US, serving one of the biggest names in the Global GSM market.

Business Scenario
The company is providing telecom product consulting services to world leader in GSM. As part of the job, its engineers are required to gauge the health of the network at different intervals of time like audit of different gateways, analysis of calls in different trunks and mobile gateways, network node usage. They are also required to trunk different work orders for migration of nodes within mobile gateways depending upon the traffic situation at the nodes.

This job of the engineers was very time consuming and required elongated process of downloading data from the servers and then using small programs in excel to generate reports . The trunking of the work orders was even more cumbersome. Company wanted to shorten the process and optimize the time spent by engineers in gauging the health of the network, so that they could devote more time on customer servicing.

The Solution
To derive quantifiable business benefits from reducing the cycle time of its business process and make the job of the engineers more seamless, the company decided to build a desktop application which could solve all the problems in one go. The Application built was rich in Graphical Interface and features, which provided simplified business process right from downloading files, processing and generating reports for the consultant. A rich GUI interface was provided for processing work orders to the gateways. All backend logic for generating data was also integrated with the product.

The Business Process
At the start of the product development initiative, a Business Analyst visited the client in the US, captured complete requirements for the project. Once back in India, the team designed the architecture and finalized the scope of the product in collaboration with the stake holders. There were daily conference calls with the client in the US, apart from that the team extensively used instant messengers to communicate with the client as and when required. In order to give greater visibility to the stake holder, Agile Development Process was used. Development and requirements gathering went on simultaneously and the releases were shown to the client before delivery.

The product was delivered in record time and the product passed all the tests in the real time environment.Currently the same product is being deployed across the US.
